“Voting is a fundamental right in our democracy.” – Letitia James
The 2024 election is finally upon us, and I’m sure you’re likely as tired or politics-weary as any of us. To the chagrin of the left spectrum and the delight of Idaho’s majority, it appears that Donald Trump may be on his way to his best electoral performance yet. Don’t get comfortable; vote and take five friends with you to vote on Tuesday, November 5th.
The 2024 Trump Coalition includes Conservative Republicans, Libertarians, and former Obama and Bernie Sanders Democrats. Notable additions to this coalition include Comedian Dave Smith, RFK, Jr., Elon Musk, Vivek Ramaswamy, Tulsi Gabbard, and more. It is quite possibly the broadest coalition this country has seen in history, and its members seem to agree that we cannot continue on our current trajectory if this nation is to survive.
The Trump Campaign’s media strategy has primarily abandoned the legacy press in favor of new media like YouTube, Podcasts, and Social Media, and with good reason. The corporate press is running the same Pravda we’ve seen over the last eight years, only this time with dwindling viewership. Perhaps sending Grandma and Grandpa back to the nursing home to spread the plague wasn’t the best electoral strategy for maintaining their audience base. On a personal note, my degree from the University of Georgia’s New Media Institute has finally reached maturation.
Trump’s new media strategy is reportedly being run by Trump’s youngest progeny, Barron Trump. This strategy has seen Trump run the YouTube circuit from The Nelk Boys and Logan Paul to the Joe Rogan Podcast and X Spaces with Elon Musk. While the whiners of MSNBC’s Morning Joe were screaming “Orange Hitler,” Trump was busy drumming up twenty million listens to his three-hour interview on the Joe Rogan Podcast in twenty hours.
Some ideas Trump is floating in these interviews are a populist Holy Grail. With RFK Jr., Trump aims to rein in the Food and Drug Administration and Make America Healthy Again. On the economy, Trump has flirted with reverting to America’s funding pre-1913; rather than levy income taxes, we’ll levy tariffs and return America to a de facto consumption tax. These ideas are in addition to Trump’s bread and butter of diplomacy over war and secure borders. This Trump grab bag has something for everyone, regardless of your spectrum.
As I type this, Idaho For Open Primaries received another $1.245 million in out-of-state donations. This brings the out-of-state total toward Proposition 1 to nearly five million dollars. There is absolutely zero about this Proposition that is honest. It doesn’t Open the Primaries as before 2011; it eliminates them. Their goal all along is to castrate the Republican trademark so that Democrats can appropriate it and sneak some of their own into elected office under the guise of Republicanism. Do not be fooled, Idaho. Vote NO! on Proposition 1. While voting, don’t forget to vote YES! on HJR5, an Idaho Constitutional Amendment that would require US citizenship to vote in Idaho elections.
On the local front, voters will face many familiar faces and a handful of new ones. I sincerely hope voters will do their due diligence, listen honestly to the newcomers, and see what they offer. If Idaho is to remain a business—and family-friendly state, it’s paramount that we continue to elect good conservative Republicans to office.
